Praised for her distinctive voice, American soprano Margretta Beaty has been charming audiences worldwide.  

Margretta most recently appeared as Tosca in Opera51's Tosca, as Turandot and as Carmen in their productions of Turandot and Carmen.  She also appeared as Madama Butterfly in Acts 2 and 3 of Cio-Cio San of Madama Butterfly in Fidenza, Italy, as part of Northern Arizona University's Flagstaff in Fidenza.  Previously in Fidenza, Ms. Beaty thrilled audiences with her portrayal of La femme in Poulenc's La voix humaine, displaying both her precise musicianship and superb acting skills.  She has performed extensively in the greater Boston area, with highlights including Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) with Boston Opera Collaborative and Xenobia (La Zombiata) with Whole Tone Opera.  Ms. Beaty has proven to be as versatile in the lower register as the high, singing the role of Lucretia in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia to great acclaim with The Boston Conservatory as well as Martha (Faust) with Opera51.


In addition to her operatic performances, Margretta has appeared in concerts in Germany, Italy, and the United States as well as in musical theater and plays.  She won the MassOpera competition in 2023 and was a semi-finalist in the Opera Birmingham competition.  She also won second place for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in the US Army Festival of Arts.  Margretta can be seen performing Sundays throughout the summer with Opera at the Steps and Opera on Tap.
